Other FYI - For Your Information

Donate Now via Canada Helps.org - Our church is now set up so people can send donations online at their convenience. You will receive a receipt for income tax purposes and we will receive the bulk of your donation (97 %) as they incorporate a small fee for administration purposes (only 3 %). So if you are interested click on the "Donate Now - Canada Helps.org" button --> Just Click --> Donate Now Through CanadaHelps.org!

Church Membership - Classes are offered for those interested in becoming a member of the church. Please see Pastor Bob.

Plan to Protect Seminars - Two 2 hour Sessions were held on November 10th and 24th of 2007 for the Plan to Protect program. If you are a volunteer in the Nursery, Kidz Korner, Kidz Korner Plus or Youth Group, and have not attended one of those seminars, please speak with Fran Lochbihler to sign up for a future seminar, as soon as possible.

Church Choir Participation - We have re-established our choir and are actively seeking people with any wonderful God-given singing and musical talents to sign up with the Oxford Church of the Nazarene. We are looking for enthusiastic people to come onboard and volunteer their time and talents to this important part of our ministry. If you know of or can refer any local singing talents then we need your cooperation. If you have any questions, contact Carole Thompson.

Sermon Podcasts - In late 2007, we began testing the possibility of having Pastor Bob's recent sermons posted on our website for the benefit of people in our community. Often our pastor has a series of sermons on a topic and if you happen to miss a service it is hard to know the full context of the overall theme or message. Now you can go to the Weekly Services/Meetings section and follow the links to listen to the latest sermon podcasts to keep up-to-date. Please let us know if you are finding this a useful addition to our church website. You can contact our webmaster at: oncwebmaster@nazmail.com

Outreach Brochure: The Stewards of the church have created a new trifold Outreach Brochure that highlights every church department and the contact leaders for each. It also has an insert identifying the upcoming events for the next two months. Please ensure that this brochure is used for any visitors to our church to let them know about the range of services we offer to the people in our surrounding communities.

Building Fund Offering: Periodically we may assign a specific offering towards the Building Fund where any funds gathered but not specifically designated will be put into this fund to be used for building maintenance and improvements.

Scent Free Policy: Our church has a scent free policy. Please be courteous of other's allergies and refrain from wearing perfume/cologne to church events

Bulletin Submissions: To have something placed in the Sunday church bulletin, leave a note or a phone message at the church office no later than Wednesday evening after prayer meeting.

Offering Envelops: If you attend our church and would like a set of offering envelops, so our church treasurer can track your contributions and provide an income tax receipt at year end, please see, our Treasurer, Erin Emmerson.

Great Serving Insights

Last Sunday was my turn in the Nursery to work
My heart wasn't in it; and my feelings were hurt;
A child from its Mother did not want to part
And it cried a lot with its broken heart.

I prayed that soon the hour would end
The I could relax - no more children to tend.
Soon the hour was over - felt good to be free
I said, "Once a month is too much for me!"

That very next Sunday as I sat in the pew
A very good sermon but visitors were few,
But down came a woman and her soul was saved
And she was the Mother of that crying Babe.

Then it dawned on me that I had a part
Of one being saved - giving god their heart,
From that day on I never would dread
Working in the nursery while souls were being fed.

* Fran Lochbilher is looking for some more nursery workers, to be a vital part of our church ministry. Please see Fran today.

Definitions / Terminologies

Alabaster: The Alabaster Offering is inspired from the story in Luke 7 of the woman who poured out a love gift in anointing Jesus. The Alabaster Offering provides for property and buildings around the world. It gives a sense of permanence, the attitude that the Church of the Nazarene intends to "put down roots". Eighty percent of the money is used in world mission areas, and twenty percent goes to multicultural congregations in the United States and Canada. Alabaster funds help provide land for most Work & Witness projects. The entire offering goes toward the construction of churches, schools, medical facilities, and homes for missionaries and national workers.

Alabaster Sundays: Usually held twice a year. These Sundays are when we gather together the funds from our small Alabaster boxes, that go towards building funds for churches and schools to aid our missionaries in spreading God's word throughout the world.

Building Fund: A seperate fund to be used only for building maintenance and improvements for the Oxford Church of the Nazarene.

Extended Fellowship - After Glow - Last Sunday of Every Month // (Except The Summer - June, July, Aug and the busy-ness at end of December) - After Sunday Evening Service to celebrate church and community fellowship. *** Please bring lunch *** - For more info call Carole Embree at 447-2538.

Faith Promise - A Faith Promise is exactly what it says — a promise made in faith between an individual and God. That promise is based on what the giver believes God wants him or her to give to ministries beyond those of the local church. It is unlike a pledge, fundraiser or a tithe. For more information go to: What is Faith Promise and you may call upon Pastor Bob at 447-2539.

Palm Sunday - The Sunday before Easter. For more information go to: What is Palm Sunday.

World Missions: Nazarene Missions International (NMI) exists to inform and involve the local church in global outreach. More information can be found at: Nazarene Missions International Every third Sunday evening service of the month is an NMI service in our church.
